About Zanzibar and JambianiJambiani is one of the bigger villages located in the south-eastern part of Zanzibar about 50 kilometers from Stonetown. Jambiani is in many ways an unspoiled village and it is wonderful to see and follow the local people in their daily life, whether it is on the beach-in the village or on The Indian Ocean. Most of the people live of the nature, and what it offers. It can be fishing, to grow seaweed in the seaand tourism. Much of the daily life is going on on the beach, where the school is located too. the coral reef is not far away from the beach and when the water is low you are able to walk out to the reef (15 minuts) and you have lots of possibilities to discover the richness of the fish and plants. There are a few guest houses on the beach and lots of possibilities to enjoy the Zanzibarian food which is a mixture of african/indian and europian food. The people are beautiful. Very peaceful and very obliging and kind. Many of the young people speak english and it is easy to get in contact with the local people. Even the school open up for you they will show you around. People are very proud and happy for their village. Jambiani is special. It has a huge feeling of community, and people have collected money themselves to build a clinic, which is now supported by the government, and have a doctor and a nurse working there. You feel very welcome and safe being in Jambiani. People do their best to full fill your wishes and are very gentle.
