The most direct way to get to Zanzibar is with KLM. You fly Amsterdam-Nairobi-Zanzibar. The time change is only one hour.

If you want to discover the mainland and maybe join a safari, then fly to Nairobi. It is not so expensive. Take the Scandinavian Express (bus company) towards Dar es Salaam and get off at Arusha or Moshi (in Tanzania).The trip is very beautiful and the busses are comfortable. Dont forget to get a visa to Kenya (50 dollars). Then continue to Dar es Salaam and take the boat to Zanzibar. It is of course possible to fly from Zanzibar to Kenya on your way back home. British airways have often offers to Nairobi.

Another company which is cheap is Ethiopian Airways.

When you arrive to Zanzibar either by boat or by plane take a taxi . It costs about 55 dollars to Jambiani. When you arrive to Jambiani go to Abusons Store in the middle of Jambiani, and ask for Issac or Abdulla. The house is located just opporsite Abusons Store. If we know what time you arrive, it is also possible to pick you up at the airport or in town. The price is the same as if you take a taxi from the airport.
